What does the LoyalFree app do?
LoyalFree is a multi-award-winning place app, designed to boost footfall and sales in town and city centres. App users can save money when they shop local and discover exclusive deals, exciting local events and interactive trails all on their smartphone!
What is a trail on the LoyalFree app?
The LoyalFree app tours & trails feature works by grouping together businesses to make life easier for the app user. For example, a trail could see a group of businesses combined into one easy-to-access place which customers can use to complete their Mother’s Day shopping or discover a Gluten-Free trail that promises to help those with dietary requirements dine out safely.
Welwyn Garden City Christmas Lights Trail 2021
Families were mesmerized by the light installations in WGC over the Christmas period. Welwyn Garden City BID used the LoyalFree app to create a family-friendly, interactive experience to be enjoyed by all. Back by high demand for the second year running, the light displays have been incredibly popular with the public. Visitors took to social media to tag themselves in selfies posed with the lights in various locations, using the hashtag #WGCXmas2021.
The Christmas Lights Trail featured 15 installations across the town and app users were encouraged to vote for their favourite location to be entered into a prize draw! The destination with the highest number of votes was the ‘Tunnel of Light’, closely followed by the Carousel and the Reindeer.
The results:
The trail was viewed a fantastic 2,698 times!
The Trail was started by 831 people
This led to an incredible 2,805 check-ins in the six weeks it was live
Why was this so successful?
The installations were large, eye-catching and well-located. The trail was a fun, free activity for families to take part in over the festive season and WGC did a great job by incorporating a selfie hashtag to spread the word on social media. You can find photos from the trail over on Instagram using #WGCXmas2021.
Easily noticeable boards accompanied each light installation with information about the trail and clear instructions on how to download the app to take part. The boards featured a large QR code enabling visitors to easily check-in at each location.
A great success, the trail is the first of many interactive trails which will come to the town. Currently, local app users can also enjoy a variety of trails on the app including ‘Dog Friendly Welwyn Garden City’ and the ‘WGC Gift Card Trail’.
